Okan Buruk to make new decision on Osimhen after Icardi’s season-ending injury

Galatasaray manager, Okan Buruk, is set to make a tactical shift following his troops’ clash with Bodrumspor and Mauro Icardi’s season-ending injury, Soccernet.ng reports.

Dissatisfied with his recent defensive formation, Buruk is poised to adjust his strategy, potentially exploring new options in attack, with Victor Osimhen reportedly under consideration as the only striker in front.

In their trip to Bodrum, Buruk played a 3-4-1-2 system which had Osimhen and Michy Batshuayi as the two attackers. Meanwhile, the game ended in a 1-nil victory to the yellow-reds thanks to a goal from the former Chelsea striker.

Meanwhile, reports from Fanatiks suggests that this formation did not go well with Buruk, who is considering a 4-2-3-1 formation that would keep only the Nigeria interntional in the front line.

The new formation will likely feature Osimhen as the lone striker, with Dries Mertens playing in a creative role behind him. Wing options such as Yunus Akgün, Barış Alper Yılmaz, or Roland Sallai are also in contention for starting spots.

Buruk remains committed to the Abdülkerim Bardakcı–Davinson Sánchez centre-back pairing, with full-back positions tailored to squad fitness. As Michy Batshuayi continues to impress as a super-sub, Buruk is already considering squad reinforcements in January to boost depth and efficiency.

With the Yellow-Reds chasing domestic and international glory, Buruk’s reshuffled strategy could define the rest of their campaign with Osimhen playing a major role in the starting lineup.
