Sevilla boss Pimienta reveals Akor Adams’ status ahead of first Sevilla game

Sevilla coach Garcia Pimienta has admitted that Nigerian striker Akor Adams may have to wait a while before breaking into the first eleven at the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adams just sealed his €5.5 million transfer from Montpellier to Sevilla, and he has started work with them. The Nigerian striker had his first training session on Friday alongside compatriots Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidera Ejuke, and the rest of the Sevilla team.

Los Nervionenses take on Getafe this weekend at the Coliseum, and Adams is set to get his first real taste of La Liga football, as he was named in the traveling squad.

Sevilla fans will be anxious to see their new striker in action due to their goalscorer struggles for the bigger part of the season. For context, Los Nervionenses have scored just 24 goals in 21 La Liga games.

Nonetheless, ahead of the game at Getafe, coach Pimienta has praised Adams’ work ethic. But he revealed that he wants to ease Adams into the action slowly as he only just joined the club.

“Adams just been training and has been called up for tomorrow. If he has to take part, he’s in a condition to do well,” Pimineta said, per Sevilla’s official website.

“He’s had two good training sessions and has to get used to the language and the way of training and playing.

“It will be gradual but he’s very eager , he’s a great lad and it’s a great opportunity for him to be at Sevilla. He’s going to give it his all because that’s also his way of playing.”
