Nigeria-eligible striker set for long-term deal at Manchester United

Nigeria-eligible striker Chido Obi-Martin is set to sign a new five-year contract at English Premier League club Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports.

At just 17 years of age, Obi-Martin has risen to global recognition at Arsenal. The world first took notice when he scored ten goals in an Arsenal under-16s' 14-3 win over Liverpool last year.

Due to his brilliance, he was quickly promoted to the U18s, U19s, U21s and even Mikel Arteta's first-team squad. Following his impressive performances, Arsenal were keen on handing him a long-term contract.

However, Manchester United stepped in last summer and signed the youngster for their academy. Obi-Martin has adapted well to life there, registering four goals and one assist in four games for the under-18s.

Since Ruben Amorim took over, there have even been talks that he could give Obi-Martin a debut soon, as he has been impressed with the young striker.

Now, according to Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are set to seal a fresh deal for Obi-Martin that will keep him at the club for the next five years. It is not a professional contract though, as the Danish-borm star is not 18 yet.

The deal is expected to be completed within the next few hours, and that will seal his future at Old Trafford.

Obi-Martin was born in Denmark to Nigerian parents, but he currently represents the Danish youth sides. Nonetheless, the youngster can still switch for Nigeria, as he has not played for the Danish senior team yet.
