Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, Ademola Olajade Lookman, has revealed it was business as usual for him and his side when they sealed a 2-0 win against Stuttgart at the Mercedes Benz Arena last night, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old started up-front alongside Italian striker, Mario Retegui, after the duo combined to down Napoli away on Sunday, sealing a 3-0 win over Antonio Conte’s side at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The first-half against Sebastian Hoeneẞ’s side flew by really quickly as both sides combined for just one shot on target before Atalanta went into second gear after the halftime break.
Gian Piero Gasperini opted to take Mario Pasalic off the pitch at half-time, bringing on Charles De Ketelaere in his place and the change yielded dividends immediately.
A loose ball to the Belgian striker saw him dart towards the right before he crossed the ball into Stuttgart’s box and Lookman got on the end of the cross, beating Alexander Nübel at the near post to score his 8th goal of the season.
Lookman was taken off in the 81st minute, but it was Nicolo Zaniolo that got Atalanta’s second of the night in the 89th minute, cushioning the ball just under Nübel’s arms to seal all three points for the Bergamo based side.
Speaking after the game, Lookman revealed it was team work that pulled his side through against such a tough crowd.
“It was a nice evening for the team. We all put in a good performance together, and that against a strong opponent. It was a tough game against VfB Stuttgart, just as we expected,” the former RB Leipzig man told BILD correspondent, Felix Arnold.
Atalanta are now unbeaten in their last nine games, winning seven and drawing just two.
