“Looks like an Italian model”-Ex-Besiktas star compares Osimhen with former Lazio star

Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen works harder on the pitch due to his difficult upbringing, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been one of the best strikers in the world for the past two years. The Nigerian striker led Napoli to a historic Serie A title triumph last year and was their main man until last summer when he joined Galatasaray in a season-long loan deal.

Since he moved to Turkey, Osimhen has been the main man for Galatasaray. In fact, he has become the poster boy for Turkish football. So far, he has registered eight goals and five assists in 11 appearances.

Due to his brilliance in front of goal, Osimhen has overshadowed strikers like Edin Dzeko, and Ciro Immobile, albeit he has fewer league goals than them.

Meanwhile, former Besiktas man Engin, who won the league with them in 1986, has praised Osimhen for his impressive performances. He believes the Nigerian is a better striker than Immobile due to his tough upbringing, which is evident in his high-energy, brutal style of play.

“Osimhen comes from an ambitious place, having struggled to survive in Africa. He bites the ball, struggles with the opponent, [and] goes higher in the air than the goalkeeper. On the other hand, he you look at Immobile, he looks like an Italian model,” Engin said.

Osimhen will be looking to make a big impact for Galatasaray this season and help them defend their Süper Lig title.
