South Africa and Orlando Pirates midfielder, Thabiso Sesane, has dedicated his side’s MTN8 Cup triumph to the injured Olisah Ndah, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ndah had previously captained Pirates to two MTN8 cup victories, but missed the final against Stellenbosch due to an injury.
In his absence, his side cruised to a 3-1 win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, courtesy of two quick-fire late goals from Mabasa and Rokofeng, sealing a third consecutive cup victory for the Buccaneers in the competition.
Thabiso Sesane was named man of the match after the intense encounter, and he credited the team’s victory to their captain who missed out due to an injury.
“Olisa’s leadership and presence were greatly missed, but we’re thrilled to have won this title for him and the team,” the versatile South African told SABC Sports after the game.
Ndah will miss Nigeria’s games against Libya in the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers. He, alongside Victor Osimhen were axes from the squad due to injuries, but the one-time NPFL Champion is eager to return to the pitch soon.
Since moving to South Africa in 2021, Ndah’s prominence in the Orlando Pirates team has continued to rise as he’s blossomed into one of the finest center-backs in the league due to his consistent solid performances.
The 26-year-old caught the eyes of some European clubs last season, and was linked with a move to Sassuolo, but move did not materialize.
