Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has affirmed that the team is only looking forward to victories in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya, Soccernet.ng reports.
Three-time African champions Nigeria will square off against Libya in their third game of the AFCON qualifiers on Friday. Both teams will play back-to-back games as Nigeria will welcome the Mediterranean Knights first before traveling to Benghazi for the return leg on October 15.
Going into the game, the Super Eagles are favorites to claim the win due to their superior quality. However, they have previously stumbled against some smaller teams and that can not be ruled out.
Nonetheless, Aina, who is in the form of his life, is adamant that the Super Eagles will deliver the three points, not only in the first leg, but also in the second leg.
“We are expected to beat everybody, that’s the pressure that we put on ourselves because we’re a big nation and we’re a good team,” Aina told NFF TV.
“We have to go there and win the first and second game and come out with all six points by God’s grace.”
Victories for Nigeria over both legs could all but confirm Nigeria’s ticket to the 2025 AFCON.
