Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa was on the scoresheet for Kano Pillars in their 4-3 victory over Enugu Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.
Musa returned to action for Kano Pillars in their Nigeria Premier Football League clash at Rangers on Tuesday. Recall that the Super Eagles star was unsung on his debut for Pillars, registering a brace to help the defeat Sunshine Stars.
However, he could not do much in their 2-0 loss at Akwa United last time out. But he was not to be denied when Pillars visited Rangers on Wednesday.
The NPFL champions were the massive favourites to defeat Pillars, but the visitors had a shocker in store.
League veteran Rabiu Ali opened the scoring for Kano Pillars from the penalty spot in the 15th minute. Musa was involved in the goal, as it was his cross which was handled by a Rangers defender that caused the penalty.
Before Rangers could probe for an equalizer, Pillars struck again. This time, it was through Zulkifili Rabiu.
Ali scored again from the spot in the 37th minute. Also, Musa was the architect, as his trickery was too much for the Rangers defenders, who fouled him in the box. Then, the Super Eagles star wrapped up a brilliant first half Kano Pillars performance with a goal in the 45th minute.
The first half ended 4-0 to Pillars, but they nearly surrendered their lead in the second half, as Isaac Saviour scored a brace in the first 15 minutes of the half. However, the visitors held on. Nenrot Silas scored for Enugu Rangers in stoppage time, but it was not enough for the champions, as it ended 4-3 to Kano Pillars.
