“My mother is half Nigerian, half German” – Former Arsenal star dreams of Super Falcons call-up after CC Mariners move

Former Arsenal forward Brooke Nunn has expressed her excitement about the prospect of representing Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the international level, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 31-year-old forward, who recently signed with Central Coast Mariners from Hibernian FC, has revealed her passion for donning Nigeria’s famous green and white jersey, which she says would be a dream come true.

Nunn, who has Nigerian and German heritage through her mother, sees this potential opportunity as a major personal achievement.

Despite being born in England and representing the country at youth levels, her heart is now firmly set on joining Nigeria’s national team, a decision inspired by the likes of Ashleigh Plumptre.

“I get my Nigerian heritage from my mother, who is half Nigerian and half German,” Nunn shared, as per Brila FM.

“She was born in England, as was I, but I lived in a foster home from an early age. I see a reflection of this potential [Nigerian spirit] in me, and I think being part of the team [The Super Falcons] would be an honor and achievement for me as a footballer. It’s something that fulfills you.”

Though Nunn didn’t initially believe that representing Nigeria was possible, she now feels hopeful thanks to the recent inclusion of overseas-born players in the Super Falcons.

“Initially, I didn’t think the possibility of playing for the Super Falcons was there a few years back because you don’t often see or hear of players that didn’t grow up in Nigeria within the squad,” Nunn revealed.

“But owing to the paradigm shift in recent years, which handed players outside the country who are of Nigerian descent the possibility to represent the country, has given me hope and faith that I can also have an opportunity to play for Nigeria,” she added. “I find it very motivating, and I want to be a symbol of this possibility.”

Nunn’s career is packed with accolades, having developed through Arsenal’s Academy and winning the WSL titles in 2011 and 2012.

She was also the youngest player in Arsenal’s Champions League squad in 2011 and collected multiple domestic trophies during her time at the club.

Nunn has since enjoyed a career across Europe, featuring for teams like London Bees, Altay S.K Women, and Hibernian.
