Manchester United to battle Chelsea for Super Eagles striker who prefers La Liga to Premier League

Former English Premier League champions Manchester United are keeping tabs on Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface has set the German Bundesliga alight since his transfer from Belgian club Royale Union SG to Bayer Leverkusen last year. Last season, the 23-year-old striker registered 21 goals and ten assists in 34 appearances for Die Werkself. It could have even been more if not for an injury he sustained at the start of the year.

This season, Boniface has continued with his impressive displays, supplying six goals and one assist in nine appearances.

The Nigerian striker already attracted some attention with his impressive performances last summer, but no top club was able to price him away from Leverkusen.

However, Die Werkself may have a tough time keeping hold of Boniface next summer. This is as some top clubs have been keeping tabs on him.

According to Fischajes, Manchester United are interested in acquiring his services. The Red Devils are badly struggling with their offense and will be looking to add some quality to their squad in January or in the summer.

Chelsea are also lurking around Boniface and could try to swoop in. Bayer Leverkusen value their Nigerian superstar at €80 million, which is an affordable fee for both clubs.

However, Boniface may not be too keen on moving to the Premier League as he has often stated that he prefers Spanish football to English football. As such, if Barcelona or any other top Spanish club probes, he would choose them first before Chelsea or Manchester United.
