Libya FA deny malicious treatment of Super Eagles, apologizes to Libyans for postponed game

The Libyan Football Federation have come out to denounce news about the unfair treatment of the Super Eagles at the Al Abraq International Airport, Soccernet.ng reports.

The aircraft carrying the Nigerian Football team and staff was en route to the Benghazi airport in Libya before they were given last minute orders to land at the Al Abraq International airport, some 300km away from their intended destination.

The Super Eagles were left at the Airport for over thirteen hours without food and access to internet, which led to the team's decision to pull out of the game as they returned safely to Nigeria yesterday evening.

In response to the turn of events, the Libyan football federation took to their official X page to denounce reports of an unfair treatment of the Super Eagles. Instead, they revealed the blame was on Nigeria for an occurrence that happened with the Libyan team en route to Uyo.

“The Libyan Federation denounces the actions taken by the Nigerian Football Federation by refusing to participate in the Libyan-Nigerian cup qualification match scheduled for Tuesday,15th October, and affirms that it will take all legal measures to safeguard the interests of Libya's first team.

The Libyan Federation attaches some inhumane footage that did not prevent the Libyan missions from participating in the Nigeria-Libya game last Friday on Nigeria soil, motivated by cooperation with the African Football Federation. The Libyan Football Federation apologizes to Libyan audiences everywhere and to the parties involved in the match because of the confusion caused by the Nigerian Football Federation for not having the game on time,” the translated statement read.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), have also put out an official statement, revealing investigations are now underway as they look to sift through the quick turn of events over the last few days.
