La Liga’s top dribbler Chidera Ejuke wins Sevilla’s Player of the Month award after Super Eagles recall

Nigeria winger Chidera Ejuke has been named Sevilla’s Player of the Month for September, capping a remarkable return to form, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old impressed during the month, making five league appearances for the La Liga club and netting one crucial goal.

His standout performance came in Sevilla’s 2-1 victory over Real Valladolid, where Ejuke scored the match-winner on September 24.

Ejuke joined Sevilla on a free transfer this summer after leaving CSKA Moscow, and his impact has been immediate.

Since his arrival, he has established himself as one of La Liga’s best dribblers, surpassing even the likes of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, as well as Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.

This form has not gone unnoticed by Nigeria, with Ejuke earning a recall to the Super Eagles for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya.

Ejuke last featured for the national team at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Nigeria won all three group games under coach Augustine Eguavoen but were eliminated by Tunisia in the Round of 16.

Now, Ejuke is set to join his international teammates as Nigeria prepare for a home match against Libya on Friday, October 11, followed by an away fixture on Tuesday, October 15.

Nigeria currently top Group D in the AFCON qualifiers, while Libya sit at the bottom, making the double-header a crucial opportunity for the Super Eagles to solidify their lead.
