“Its been adjucated upon”- Pinnick satisfied with CAF’s sanctions on Libya after AFCON Qualifiers shenanigans

Former Nigeria Football Federation has expressed satisfaction with CAF's sanctions on Libya after their ill treatment of the Super Eagles before their aborted 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers clash two weeks ago, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria defeated Libya 1-0 in the first leg of their 2025 AFCON Qualifiers on October 10, and they had to travel to Libya for the return leg three days later.

Undo for the Super Eagles, it did not go so well. Libyan authorities re-routed their flight and forced them to land in an airport that was deserted.

Despite the country's security challenges, the Super Eagles players and staff were locked up in the abandoned airport for about 17 hours. And it the end, they decided against playing the match. CAF also canceled just hours later, while the issue would be looked into by the disciplinary arm.

CAF announced the findings of their disciplinary committee last week, and Libya were found guilty. Hence, they were $50,000, and Nigeria was awarded all three points.

Following the move, former NFF President, Pinnick, has expressed satisfaction.

“The matter has been adjudicated upon, everything is done according to the books, which is the statutes, they (CAF) don't just do things by fluke, they go through the books,” Pinnick told Soccernet.ng.

Pinnick is currently an elected member of the FIFA Council, and his term is set to end next year. However, the former NFF boss will run for a second term.
