FIFA U-17 WWC: What Bankole Olowookere said after Flamingos’ dominant win over Ecuador

Head coach of the Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere, has expressed his delight after his team secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Ecuador to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Flamingos, who had already defeated New Zealand 4-1 in their opening match, continued their impressive form against Ecuador as they clinched their second win in two games.

Following the victory, the head coach of Naija Ratels of Abuja took to his social media page to share his thoughts on the team’s progress to the quarterfinal of the competition.

“A convincing and ruthless win takes us to the quarter-final of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. We are absolutely grateful for the support of Nigerians worldwide. It can only get better,” Olowookere shared on his X (formerly Twitter) platform.

The Nigerian side has now scored eight goals across two matches, conceding just one. Shakirat Moshood, who scored early against New Zealand, was instrumental again, bagging two goals against Ecuador, while Harmony Chidi and Peace Effiong added to the tally.

I watched most of the matches, the Flamingos are technically good but need to improve on their passes and quick exchanges. Nigeria might reach the semi finals but North Korea and Spain parade exceptionally skillful ladies. Either Spain or North Korea, one of them will lift the cup. Goidluck to our Flamingos. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians, Amen.
