Top Nigerian Women’s Premier League club Edo Queens have been drawn against South African club Mamelodi Sundowns, Tutankhamun FC of Egypt, and CBE FC of Ethiopia in the group stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Soccernet.ng reports.
The fourth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions is set to begin in a few weeks, and the Confederation of African Fotball have made the draws for the upcoming fixtures.
Despite the Super Falcons’ dominance on the continent, no Nigerian team has been able to claim the trophy. South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns hae dominated the scene, as they have won the last two editions.
However, Edo Queens will be looking to improve on Nigeria’s record. Recall that they won the zonal championships to qualify for their tournament.
Now the draws have been made, and Edo Queens look like they have their work cut out for them. This is as they will be taking on Sundowns, Tutankhamun, and CBE FC.
It will be Edo Queens’ first time in the competitors, and they will be looking to make a big impact. This time, CAF have give the prize money a significant bump, with the winning club set to cart home $400,000.
The competition kicks off in Morocco between November 9 to November 23.
