Nigerian striker Akor Adam’s has appealed to Montpellier fans to keep faith in the team despite their slow start to the new Ligue 1 season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Montpellier have had a slow start to the Ligue 1 campaign. They started the new campaign with a 1-1 at home to Strasbourg.
That was still a decent result for the club, as Strasbourg have been quite solid in Ligue 1 for the last few seasons.
However, it all fell apart for them in their second game against PSG at the Parc des Princes. La Paillade lost 6-0 to the defending champions, their biggest-ever loss to PSG.
In their third game against Nantes, Adams scored, but they lost 3-1 to Nantes. And Montpellier fell to a 3-0 loss at Rennes last weekend.
Nigerian striker Adam’s featured in all these games. He started three games, but his efforts were not enough to save his side from biting the dust.
Despite their poor start to the campaign, the Nigerian striker has urged the fans to keep believing in the team.
“Every time we play, our only goal is to win to make our supporters happy. We are aware that, until now, we have not been able to bring them the results they want, but I ask them to continue to believe in us and in the vision of the club,” Adams said via the club’s website.
“We know that they make a lot of sacrifices during the week to come and support us and I promise you that we give our all to satisfy them.
“I am convinced that together, with the supporters, we can have a great season. We know that they are behind us and that brings us a lot of positive energy.
Next for Montpellier is a home game against Auxerre, who have also been struggling this season. Adams will hope that they can claim a victory in the fixture and jumpstart their Ligue 1 campaign.
