No Osimhen influence – Super Eagles star denies agreeing deal to join Galatasaray on a free transfer

Super Eagles and Fenerbahce star Bright Osayi-Samuel has categorically dismissed claims that he has agreed to join Galatasaray on a free transfer at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The versatile defender, who has been a key player for Fenerbahce since joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2021, insists no such agreement exists.

The Nigerian international is in the final six months of his contract with the Turkish giants, a situation that allows him to negotiate with other clubs from January.

While speculation has linked him to several suitors, including Premier League clubs and Galatasaray, Osayi-Samuel remains focused on his current club, emphasising his openness to extending his stay at Fenerbahce if contract negotiations progress favourably.

According to Foromac, Fenerbahce’s management held talks with Osayi-Samuel to clarify rumours following a sensational claim that he had reached personal terms with Galatasaray.

Addressing the matter, the 27-year-old was unequivocal. “There is no such situation. I want to stay at Fenerbahce,” he stated.

In response, the club invited his agent to Istanbul to advance discussions on a potential extension.

The rumours, which sparked significant debate on social media, also implicated Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen.

Reports suggested Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, had influenced Osayi-Samuel’s alleged move to the Turkish champions.

Both players are teammates with Nigeria’s national team, having shared success at the Africa Cup of Nations. However, these claims appear to lack substance, with Osayi-Samuel making his intentions clear to Fenerbahce’s hierarchy.

Osayi-Samuel’s impressive performances since joining Fenerbahce have made him one of the most sought-after defenders in Turkey.

Over 157 appearances, he has contributed seven goals and 14 assists. Despite his influence on the pitch, the player has reportedly declined several contract extension offers, fueling speculation about his next destination.

Although he has been linked to the Premier League, where a return would fulfill his dream of playing in England’s top flight, Turkish media reports continue to suggest that the defender might stay in the Super Lig.

The latest transfer twist saw him reportedly attend a Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal match in London.

Still, Fenerbahçe remain keen to extend his stay, but with no agreement reached yet, clubs in England and Turkey are closely monitoring the situation.

For now, Osayi-Samuel’s focus appears to be on fulfilling his commitments to Fenerbahçe while keeping his options open.
