Nigeria and Orlando Pirates central defender, Olisah Ndah, has revealed that the healthy competition for starting spots in the Super Eagles can only yield positive results for the team, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old centre-back was called up to the Super Eagles team for their AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, making a return to the squad for the first time since 2022.
He came on in the 63rd minute at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo yesterday evening, replacing Calvin Bassey as Augustin Eguavoen’s side cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
Speaking about the quality of the team, the former Rivers United man admitted Nigeria are stacked on all sides, and he welcomes a healthy competition.
“I think it is a healthy competition and there’s a lot of great players in the team. No matter who starts, I think we’re committed to the team. It is a good reception and there are a lot of great guys here. I am enjoying my moments here. I am also in Uyo, so I feel at home because I have been here for a couple of years before,” the dreadlocked defender said in quotes revealed by Goal.
A move to Europe could also be on the cards for the one-time NPFL, with Italian side, Sassuolo, keen on the services of the Orlando Pirates man.
Since moving to South Africa, Ndah has lifted the MTN 8 League Cup twice with his club side.
