Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is set to get more game time at Sevilla following the injury of their first-choice striker Romero Isaac, Soccernet.ng reports.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla in the summer following the expiration of his contract at English Premier League club Leicester City. After the promise that the Super Eagles star showed during his time at Manchester City and his early years at Leicester, there were high expectations of him coming into the new season.
However, Iheanacho has struggled to book a regular place in the starting eleven in Seville. The 27-year-old striker has started just one out of Sevilla’s first five games of the season and has no goal contribution yet.
But it seems things are about to take a positive turn turn Iheanacho soon. This is as Sevilla have revealed that their first-choice striker Romero has suffered a slight sprain and may be out for about a week.
This means that Iheanacho could get a starting shirt when Sevilla play Real Valladolid in their next Laliga game. The club could even want to take extra caution with Romero by resting him for the game against Athletic Club next weekend if Iheanacho does well.
Iheanacho has been struggling badly for the past two seasons, and he need to start pulling up the numbers soon.
