Ex-CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa hints at NPFL comeback, asks fans to choose his next club

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has sparked excitement among fans after hinting at a potential return to the Nigeria Professional Football League, Soccernet.ng reports.

Musa had previously revealed his plans to return to the Nigerian league, this time with the intention of staying longer than before to demonstrate his love for domestic football.

Speaking during an X (formerly Twitter) Space session, Musa, who also played for English Premier League side Leicester City, acknowledged his roots in the Nigerian league.

“I will always talk about the Nigerian league because I was once their product. It placed me where I am today, and even tomorrow, when I decide to retire from football, I will return to Nigeria and play in the league again. But this time, I’ll stay longer to show you the love I have for the Nigerian league,” he said.

The former Al-Nassr forward, known for his successful spells abroad, took to social media to engage his followers, asking them which NPFL club he should sign for.

This unexpected move has fueled speculation about Musa’s next career step, as he has been without a club since February 2024. Fans are eagerly weighing in on where they believe the experienced forward should make his mark once again on home soil.

The Nigerian international began his European journey with Dutch second-tier side VV-Venlo in 2010, after impressing with Kano Pillars.

He went on to make a name for himself at Russian club CSKA Moscow, where he scored 48 career goals and provided 27 assists, solidifying his reputation as a top performer abroad.
