Super Eagles and Lazio midfielder, Ayodele Fisayo Bashiru, has pleaded with fans of the Italian club to be patient with him as he adapts to the needs of the Serie A, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 23-year-old joined le Aquile this summer on loan from Turkish side, Hatayspor, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season included in the deal.
The former Manchester City midfielder has been handed the number seven jersey as he prepares for life in Italy under Marco Baroni.
In an interview with the club, Fisayo mentioned the role he’d prefer to play for the two-time Serie A Champions. Additionally, he pleaded with the fans to be patient with him as he adapts to the tactical needs of the League.
“Italian football is very tactical; this is the biggest challenge. My favourite role is as a number 8 or 10. I am ready to play and make the fans happy. I had some problems at the beginning of the season, but now I am better, and I am understanding what the coach wants. The training I received at Manchester City was very good, and Turkish football taught me a lot. I know I’ll need to adapt to Serie A, but I’ve found a very supportive environment here, and I hope we can have a great season,” the former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder told the club’s official website.
Fisayo Ayodele Bashiru was born in Germany to Nigerian parents but moved to England at a young age with his family. He scored his first goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa
