The Nigerian trio of John Ebuka, Sodiq Awujoola, and Samuel Amadi were in the winning party as Ceramica Cleopatra FC lifted the Egyptian League Cup on Wednesday night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ceramica Cleopatra secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Tala’ea El-Gaish in the final of the competition to secure a second consecutive title.
After winning the trophy for the first time in history last season, the Gold and Blood defeated ENPPI, Ismaily, El Dakhleya, Smouha, and Al Ittihad to reach another final this year.
And in a repeat of 2023’s final when they put Al Masry to the cleaners with a 4-1 win, Ceramica Cleopatra overpowered their opponents with relative ease.
Nigeria’s Ebuka, who started in attack alongside Awujoola, got the ball rolling for the defending champions in the 13th minute with a precise finish past goalkeeper Mohamed Shaaban.
Ceramica Cleopatra suffered a setback late in the half when Karim Tarek equalised for El-Gaish but two goals in five second-half moments by Ahmed Belhadji and substitute Mohamed Toni won the day for the Giza-based club.
Samuel Amadi did not feature in the encounter but he joined the celebrations at the referee’s final whistle inside the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
The three other Nigerians on the payroll of Ceramica Cleopatra – Favour Akem, Onyema Henry, and Abdulkareem Ayinde Ademola – were not listed for the game.
Ebuka, who joined Ceramica Cleopatra from ENPPI, and former Akwa United star Amadi were also part of the club’s maiden triumph last year.
