Italian Serie A side Atalanta may stop Ademola Lookman from leaving the club this summer following the injury of Gianluca Scamacca on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has been brilliant for Atalanta since he joined two seasons ago. However, he started attracting interest from abroad this summer after his heroics for Atalanta in the UEFA Europa League.
Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea have been linked to the 26-year-old forward, but nothing concrete has been reached yet even though the talks have gathered ground in recent weeks.
Atalanta already slammed a €70 million price-tag on Lookman, as they seemed ready to let go of the Nigerian forward.
But it seems like La Dea will now reconsider their stance. This is because their main striker Gianluca Scamacca sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in a friendly game against Parma on Sunday.
The injury will keep Scamacca out of action for at least six months, and that is a big blow for Atalanta.
This means that La Dea will be unwilling to let go of any attacker so they can have some options in the attack. Recall that they play in the UEFA Champions League next season, which means they would need a big and healthy squad.
Except they sign a new attacker this summer, it is unlike they Atalanta will let Lookman leave.
