Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze, who is currently lighting up the pitch at AC Milan, can’t help but envision a future where he shares the field with his compatriot, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze recently revealed his playful attempts to persuade Osimhen to join him in Milan, especially as Osimhen aims to exit Diego Maradona Stadium this summer.
The strong bond between the Nigerian duo is well-known, with Osimhen playing a key role in advising Chukwueze to join the Serie A giants when he was about to leave Villarreal CF.
“I’m here thanks to the affection of the fans and thanks to Osimhen,” Chukwueze earlier told Milan TV. “He told me that Milan is a beautiful club, one of the best, and I should not hesitate to sign with them. He also said that they are fantastic and have wonderful fans.”
Osimhen’s potential transfer in the 2024 summer window has become a focal point, with his departure from Naples being highly anticipated.
Chukwueze, speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, revealed that he has spoken to Osimhen about joining him at AC Milan, but acknowledges the move is challenging.
“I would like to close my eyes, open them again, and see him here at Milan. I always say to him: ‘Are you sure you don’t want to come?’ And he says: ‘Samuel, you know it’s difficult…’” Chukwueze said, as quoted by Pianetamilan.
Chelsea has pulled out of their chase to sign the Super Eagles attacker, focusing instead on closing a deal with Spanish-Nigerian attacker Samu Omorodion, leaving Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabian clubs in the race for Osimhen.
