Former Remo Stars midfielder, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, has joined Italian Serie B side US Sampdoria on a loan move from Inter Milan, Soccernet.ng reports.
Earlier reports indicated that the Nigerian midfielder was on the verge of exiting San Siro for Sampdoria on a season-long loan. Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira has now confirmed that the deal is complete.
Initially, Sampdoria aimed to secure Akinsanmiro on a permanent transfer, with Inter Milan reportedly considering including a buy-back clause.
However, that agreement did not materialize. The current deal is pending a medical examination, with an official announcement expected soon.
Akinsanmiro made a significant move during the 2023 winter transfer window by signing a four-year contract with Inter Milan.
In the 2022-23 season, he was an unused substitute in the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina, where Inter secured their ninth Coppa Italia title.
The midfielder made his first-team debut on February 25, 2024, in a 4-0 league victory over Lecce, coming on as a substitute for Davide Frattesi in the 76th minute.
His loan move to Sampdoria is intended to provide him with more first-team opportunities and regular playing time.
The Nigerian international’s departure from San Siro on a season-long loan is a strategic move to enhance his development and gain valuable experience in Serie B.
