Nigeria international Jennifer Echegini bids farewell to Juventus Ladies, nears exciting move to PSG

Nigeria’s Super Falcons star Jennifer Onyi Echegini has announced her departure from Juventus Ladies, Soccernet.ng reports.

The midfielder shared the news on her Instagram page, revealing she is leaving the Italian team after just six months. A move to French side PSG is reportedly imminent.

Echegini, who recently won the eBay MVP award for the best Under-23 player in the women’s Serie A, has had a standout season. She scored 10 goals and provided an assist in 14 matches, earning recognition as the most outstanding young talent in the league.

In her farewell message, Echegini expressed her gratitude:

“I wanted to take this moment and share my gratitude for the time we have shared. Despite all that may have been said I’m extremely grateful to have been part of this family.

“Living and playing in Turin has been an amazing journey filled with a lot of growing and learning for me. I will cherish these memories and carry them on to my next journey.

“Thank you to my teammates and coaches for making me feel part of the family. Working alongside dedicated and inspiring women has been the most rewarding experience. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

“Lastly, thank you for your unwavering support throughout the season.”

Echegini began her youth career at Arsenal before moving to two clubs in the US. She joined Juventus in January and made an immediate impact with her dynamic play and international experience. Her multicultural background adds a unique dimension to her football journey.

She was also part of the Nigeria women’s team that reached the Round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The 23-year-old has also been included in Nigeria’s squad for this summer’s Paris Olympic Games.
