New signing Dele-Bashiru shines with brace in Lazio’s 23-0 thrashing of Auronzo FC

Super Eagles star Fisayo Dele-Bashiru recently penned joined Italian Serie A side Lazio on a season-long loan

Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru made an immediate impact for his new club, Lazio, by scoring twice in their dominant 23-0 victory over ninth-tier Italian side Auronzo FC, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lazio, who finished seventh in the 2023-24 Italian Serie A campaign, secured their spot in the UEFA Europa League, ending the season seven points behind Bologna, who qualified for the UEFA Champions League with 68 points.

As the Eaglets prepare for a challenging new season, they kicked off their pre-season campaign with a resounding 23-0 victory, setting a positive tone for the months ahead.

Dele-Bashiru showcased his potential by finding the back of the net in the 64th and 73rd minutes of the game, quickly demonstrating his value to the Biancocelesti.

The Nigerian international faced hurdles concerning salary agreements and transfer terms with Lazio. However, both Lazio and Hatayspor eventually reached an agreement for the central midfielder.

The Italian side secured Dele-Bashiru on a season-long loan from the Turkish club, with a deal that includes an obligation to make the move permanent for a total transfer fee of €6 million.

Initially, Lazio will pay €2 million for the loan, followed by an additional €4 million for the permanent transfer at the end of the season.

This structured deal allows Lazio to manage the cost over two seasons, staying below Dele-Bashiru’s €7 million release clause.

With a strong start in the pre-season clash, Dele-Bashiru will be hoping to continue his impressive form when the official season campaign resumes. His early contributions hint at a promising season ahead for both him and Lazio.
