Super Eagles and Rangers striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, has debunked transfer reports claiming he’s keen on leaving the Glasgow-based, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 29-year-old scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 54 games for The Gers, but blew hot and cold throughout the season. If he had been more clinical, he could have doubled the number of goals he scored.
Dessers also found it hard to win over the hearts of the Ibrox fans, and it got tougher as Rangers lost the Scottish domestic double to their rivals, Celtic.
As per multiple reports, Greek Champions, PAOK Thessaloniki were interested in the signature of the former Genk striker, before Italian side, Cagliari, joined the race to bring the Super Eagles striker back to Italy.
However, the striker continued training with Philipp Clemente’s team and travelled with the rest of the Rangers squad for their pre-season campaign. In an interview after the team’s training, Dessers clarified his stance regarding a potential transfer away from the club.
“I am very happy here, so I would like to stay. There is some interest, but my intention is to stay and then we will see what happens,” the former Cremonese striker told Ziggo Sport Voetbal in quotes revealed by Football Scotland.
Dessers joined the Scottish Record Champions last summer, signing a four-year deal with the Gers. Whether he remains in Glasgow or not, Philipp Clemente’s side are in the transfer market for another striker as they’re thin on options up-front.
