Super Falcons and Atletico De Madrid attacker, Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade, has revealed she’s revelling in the privilege to lead Nigeria to the Paris 2024 Olympics, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 24-year-old bagged Atletico’s Player of the Season award, and is keen on carrying her personal success over to the National team as they head over to Paris for the Olympics tournament for the first time in sixteen years.
Speaking ahead of their showdown in Paris, the Nigerian forward revealed playing in the Olympics is a dream come true.
“Yes, Olympics, it’s the first time for most of us. We are excited, Maybe that’s why we are all pumped up. We are ready, we can’t wait to be there. It’s a dream come true. I believe a lot of players in their careers want to be in this kind of atmosphere and get to this level but they never achieve that. For us, achieving this feat is great. Playing at the World Cup, and now getting the chance to play at the Olympics, is a dream come true for me and my teammates,” Ajibade told NFF TV.
Ajibade’s teammate, Asisat Oshoala, believes the Super Falcons can claim a medal in Paris, despite being drawn into the group of death.
Nigeria are a part of Group C with Spain, Japan and Brazil. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage in addition to the two best third-place teams. The Super Falcons open group play against Brazil on July 25 before taking on Spain on July 28. They’ll wrap up the group stage against Japan on July 31.
