Super Eagles duo, Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen, have both been ranked among the top 10 most valued African footballers, Soccernet.ng reports.
Following the conclusion of the recent season, the CIES Football Observatory has ranked African players based on their transfer value in the market for the summer transfer window.
In the top 10 list, Boniface sits third, while the 2023 CAF Player of the Year, Osimhen, takes the fourth position.
Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Mohammed Kudus occupy the first and second spots, respectively.
This ranking has surprised the Nigerian football community, especially considering the high price tag on Osimhen, whose release clause is around €120 million, compared to Boniface, who has only spent one season with Bayer Leverkusen.
According to the ranking, Osimhen is valued at €85.6 million, while Boniface—who was named Bundesliga Rookie of the Year—is valued at €86.5 million.
Boniface joined Xabi Alonso’s team in the 2023 summer transfer window and has proven his worth by scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in his first season with the German side.
He has piqued the interest of AC Milan and other clubs vying for his signature, although he is still under contract with Leverkusen until 2028.
Osimhen, on the other hand, has been excellent for Napoli and has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea, although the club is hesitant to sign him due to his injury record.
Despite this, any club seeking his signature would still have to break the bank to secure a player of his quality.
