Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman continued with his hot form, as he scored in a third consecutive game for Atalanta in their 3-2 loss to Fiorentina in their final game of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has been in brilliant form for Atalanta in the last two weeks. He scored the hattrick that gave them the Europa League title in Dublin two weeks ago. Then he continued with that form last time out in Atalanta’s 3-0 bashing of Torino.
In Atalanta’s final game of the season against Fiorentina on Sunday, coach Gian Pero Gasperini retained the Nigerian forward in his frontline.
Unfortunately for Atalanta, they went a goal down after just six minutes, courtesy of a strike from Andrea Bellotti. However, Lookman pulled one back for La Dea in the 12th minute. The Super Eagles star was played through on goal by Charles De Ketelaere, and with just the goalkeeper to beat, he just dinked the ball into the net.

However, Atalanta’s celebration did not last, as Nico Gonzalez scored the second for Fiorentina in the 19th minute. But 13 minutes later, Atalanta equalized again.
Lookman was involved once more, as he played a pass to Giorgio Scalvini, who received the ball on the edge of the box and sent a powerful strike past Tommaso Marinelli in Fiorentina’s goal.
Still, Atalanta failed to keep it tight at the back, and they conceded again courtesy of a strike from Bellotti. Lookman had just eleven minutes of action in the second half before he was hauled off by Gasperini.
Both teams failed to find the net in the second half, and it eventually ended 3-2 to Fiorentina. Despite their loss, Atalanta ended the Serie A campaign in fourth place.
Lookman will be hoping to take his form into the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin later this month.
