Seven-cap Super Eagles striker ends six-year stay in Germany, joins Bulgarian champions

Super Eagles striker Anthony Ujah has completed a transfer to Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv following the expiration of his contract at Bundesliga 2. side Eintracht Braunschweig, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ujah has been a seasoned campaigner in Germany over the past 13 years. He played for clubs like FSV Mainz, Cologne, Werder Bremen, and Union Berlin. In between, the 33-year-old striker spent two years in Chinese club Liaoning FC before returning to Germany in 2018, and he has been in Germany since then.

Ujah's last call was at Eintracht Braunschweig, where he moved to two seasons ago. The 33-year-old registered 13 goals and seven assists in 53 appearances for the club.

However, his deal at the club expired at the end of the season, as Eintracht Braunschweig did not hand him an extension.

In a new development, Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv have announced that they have now signed Ujah on a free transfer.

Following his transfer, Ujah is now the sixth Nigerian to play for Botev Plovdiv. In fact, currently, aside from Ujah, there are five Nigerians in Botev Plovdiv's squad.

The club finished 7th in the Bulgarian league, but they won the Bulgarian Cup last season. But with Ujah in the team, they will be looking to challenge for the league next season.
