South Africa and Al Ahly SC winger, Percy Muzi Tau, has admitted the Bafana Bafana are in for a difficult game against Nigeria this weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 30-year-old is one of the senior players in Hugo Broos’ team and is vastly experienced, having played in Belgium, England, South Africa, and now, Egypt.
Tau shared the pitch with Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Dennis, and assisted him when the former Watford striker stunned the Santiago Bernabeu with a brace, hitting the famous Cristiano Ronaldo Siuu celebration.
South Africa will lock horns against Nigeria and Zimbabwe in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The former Anderlecht winger believes it will be a difficult game for them, but he’s poised to take on whatever comes.
“I’m looking forward to it, and I want to qualify for the World Cup with South Africa. Against Nigeria and Zimbabwe, it won’t be easy, but we’ll try to get a result away from home because they’ll always be difficult and we lost to them at the AFCON 2023 tournament, so we have to try something this time,” Percy Tau told African Football.
South Africa and Nigeria will face each other at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with kick-off time set to 8 pm. The Super Eagles will travel to the Stade Félix-Houphouët-Boigny in Ivory Coast three days after, to take on Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic.
South Africa have earned three points from their opening two games, winning one, and losing the other. Nigeria have two points, drawing against Rwanda and Lesotho.
