Current situation: NFF’s decision on Osimhen; name of linked foreign coach; calls for home-based coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has remained silent on the recent controversy involving Victor Osimhen and Finidi George, Soccernet.ng reports.

Last weekend, the Nigerian football community was rocked by Victor Osimhen’s online outburst against Finidi George over allegations that he faked an injury.

The same weekend, the former Ajax star stepped down from his position as the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Despite public expectation for the NFF to address the issue, there has been no official statement from the governing body.

Will NFF Sanction Victor Osimhen?

Osimhen’s outburst, which included displeasing messages directed at Finidi George, has sparked mixed reactions within the Nigerian football community.

Former Nigerian international Victor Anichebe criticized Osimhen’s behavior, while former goalkeeper Idah Peterside called for the Super Eagles attacker to be sanctioned by the NFF.

Reports suggest that the NFF may establish a disciplinary committee to address Osimhen’s actions.

However, due to a Muslim holiday, the NFF offices have been closed, delaying any official response.

The NFF is scheduled to reconvene on Wednesday, though this meeting is intended for an inaugural event, not specifically to discuss the Osimhen incident.

New Foreign Coach Revealed

Prior to Finidi George's departure, the NFF had announced plans to hire a foreign technical adviser. Following Finidi's exit, it is understood that this foreign coach will step in as the chief coach.

Soccernet.ng understands that Antonio Conceicao is expected to be named the next coach of the Super Eagles. However, there are calls within the community for the consideration of a local coach.

Calls for Home-Based Coach

After the departure of Jose Peseiro, who left due to unmet salary demands, Finidi George was seen as a cost-effective option for the NFF.

However, with his exit, the NFF faces financial constraints in hiring a foreign coach, who would likely demand a salary of at least $50,000 monthly.

As a result, the NFF is also considering local coaches. Samson Siasia and Salisu Yusuf have been mentioned as potential candidates who could fit the federation's budget.

Osimehn is needed not only in Nigeria. He should quit Super Eagles and concentrate on his club carrier. Napoli has never complained about him. The only time he had issues in Napoli was when someone made inappropriate remarks about him and it was resolved. He is better quitting Super Eagles as from what is happening, there is gang up to humiliate him. Nigeria will not qualify for the World Cup, so Victor should not bother himself. NFF and face book people calling for his head, should go and qualify Nigeria for the World Cup.Volatile sports men are all over the place and most of them are talented. Who has forgotten Balotelli or Paul Gascoigne?

Nff should please learn from their mistakes and correct it immediately. Super eagles team presently don’t need a local coach. They will not respect and honour indigenous coach. That was the mistake of nff. They should give super eagles a good experience foreign coach that can help super eagles qualify to the World Cup. And they should treat victor osimhen’s verbal outburst wisely. Nigeria need Victor Osimhem now more than he needs us. Nff should please forgive him and concentrate in the appointment of a good foreign coach and World Cup qualifiers

what a statement. Nigeria needs Oshimen more than he needs us. so he is bigger than Nigeria. when did we get to this state in Nigeria. so one player can kill anyone and we will allow him do the madness because we need him more than he needs us. the video I watched shows Oshimen has an internal problem which he is not disclosing. same way yekini had an internal mental issue which he never disclosed.

the way Oshimen spoke in that video cursing everyone it shows he needs help very fast. disciplining him is just one way to start his rehabilitation.

this is a player Nigeria helped to climb up. a player who is being paid tax payers money as match bonuses.

he should be asked to apologize or get banned from the team. what is his usefulness anyway when we are not going to qualify for two world cup in a row.

what’s his usefulness when he can only score just one goal at afcon and couldn’t even win it.
