Because of the kind of talent that Nigeria always produces, the Golden Eaglets were expected to win the game. Nigeria bossed the play from the onset and the players showed good chemistry with other. However, they lacked technique in the final third and failed to make the right decisions.
Burkina Faso on the other hand, had limited chances. And the few they got were due to some mistakes from Nigeria's backline.
The game got tougher for both sides in the second half, when it began to rain cat and dogs at the stadium. However, both teams failed to create clear-cut chances, especially as the conditions were poor.
The Golden Eaglets struck the bar late in the game after a defensive mix-up in Burkina Faso's area. But that was the best they could get, as Manu Garba and his lads had to settle for a barren draw.
Nonetheless, they will be looking to get a win in their second game against Niger Republic.
Despite their strong start and dominant play, their inability to capitalize on chances was frustrating, but there’s still optimism for their upcoming match against Niger Republic.
