Liverpool join Chelsea and PSG in pursuit of 16-goal Super Eagles striker

Six-time UEFA Champions League winners, Liverpool, have joined Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 25-year-old has undoubtedly proven himself to be one of the best strikers in Europe. He has been consistent with his goalscoring, and has massively improved his all-round game since moving to Wolfsburg a few years ago.

Osimhen helped Napoli win the league title last season and his performances have put him on the radar of multiple clubs with a summer move on the horizon.

As per Fichajes, Liverpool have expressed their interest in signing the Nigerian international before the start of next season as they prepare for a fresh start without Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseysiders were on course for a potential quadruple at some point this season, but they seem to have run out of steam. Diogo Joya has had injury problems and a wasteful Darwin Núñez hasn’t helped the 2020 Premier League winners in front of goal and Osimhen is seen as the ideal player to restore clinicality to the Anfield frontline.

Osimhen has a release clause of €130 million in his contract and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to pay that kind of money for him.

Paris Saint-Germain on the other hand, are looking to include players in their negotiations to lure the Super Eagles striker to France while Chelsea need to make sales before launching any bid.

Osimhen missed a huge part of the season due to injuries, but has managed 16 goals and four assists in all competitions for Napoli this season.
