Iwobi also expressed his feelings about the exciting moment saying “It was nice to be on the winning side against Manchester United because I don’t think I’ve beaten them. So, to get the winning goal was nice.”
Iwobi and Bassey were also asked about their friendship and first impressions of each other. Bassey stated that the first time he met Iwobi was when he came to Nigeria to play with the Super Eagles.
He added that he instantly liked Iwobi, mentioning that Iwobi played a role in helping him adapt to the team.
Iwobi, on his impression of Bassey, he said, “What you see is what you get with Calvin. When he’s comfortable, energy for days! I feel like he forgets who he is sometimes though. He’s such a big kid. It’s nice that he still has that childishness at heart.”
The duo were also asked about their favorite Nigerian meals. Bassey stated that he enjoys pounded yam with Egusi, while Iwobi said he loves the Igbo native salad, popularly called Abacha.
Talking about footballers who have inspired them, Iwobi cited his uncle and Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha. Bassey, on the other hand, said Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was his idol growing up.
