Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has expressed his joy in winning the German Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.
The English-born Nigerian star, while on loan from Southampton, played a crucial role in Burnley's return to the English Premier League with his goal-scoring skills, pace, and assists.
Meanwhile, the good omen seemed to have followed him to the Bay Arena, where he would be crowned champion in less than two years of his footballing career.
Tella expressed his joy of becoming a champion and hopes to continue the unbeaten run, remaining cautious of Leverkusen's next games as they have to stay focused.
“I wouldn't say it is one expression, We are just happy, it is simple. We are happy to be champions. But, we can't get too excited because we've got a game on Thursday, and another game on Sunday, so we have to continue the unbeaten run.” he told Soccernet's Managing Editor, Lolade Adewuyi.

Tella joined Bayer Leverkusen from Southampton in the 2023 summer transfer window along with his countryman, Victor Boniface.
Speaking further about picking such a prestigious trophy in his first season, Tella emphasised that winning trophies isn't guaranteed and highlighted the importance of the moment for the club's history.
“Yeah it’s obviously very special. I’ve always said trophies aren’t guaranteed,” he added, as quoted by Daily Post.
“The fact that I’ve had an opportunity to come to this club in my first season with an incredibly talented group of players, unbelievable coaching staff, and win something first time of asking is special. It’s an important moment for the history of the club.”
