The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee Members and the NFF Technical Committee have reportedly made a significant decision that could change the direction of the Super Eagles coaching role, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
Since the departure of Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro, speculation has been rife regarding potential candidates, including Emmanuel Amuneke and Peseiro’s former assistant, Finidi George.
However, according to Nigerian journalist Tobi Adepoju, a crucial meeting held yesterday marked the first formal discussion regarding the vacant Super Eagles coaching position, potentially introducing a twist to the ongoing speculation.
Amidst widespread media speculation, the conclusion of discussions resulted in the selection of a candidate from the pool of applicants vying for the esteemed role.
Reports further revealed that committees unanimously agreed to appoint a coach of Nigerian descent, deviating from earlier expectations of names making rounds.
Meanwhile, Sports Minister, John Enoh, as reported earlier reported, revealed that the NFF will announce who will be the next coach of the Nigerian national team.
“What I can assure is the senior national team will have a new coach in the next one week or at most two weeks,
“The campaign for the next World Cup has started and we didn’t start well, it was a shaky one and therefore there’s a lot of mileage to cover,” he told Channels Tv.
However, after more than six weeks of decision making, attention now turns to the NFF’s forthcoming official announcement, expected to be released later this week.
As a passionate supporter of the Super Eagles, I’m thrilled to hear about the NFF’s plans to appoint a new coach. It’s exciting to see them considering experienced candidates like Amuneke and Finidi, who have the potential to lead our team to great success. I’m eagerly anticipating the announcement and look forward to supporting the new coach in their mission to take the Super Eagles to new heights. Go, Super Eagles!
