Newcastle United have joined the long queue of clubs interested in signing Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo, Soccernet.ng reports.
Adarabioyo has been one of the standout performers for Fulham this season, with his defensive partnership with Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey bearing significant fruits.
Their centre-back pairing is one of the major reasons Fulham are 14 points adrift of the relegation waters with only six games left.
However, Adarabioyo is into the last six months of his contract with Fulham, and he is almost certainly set to leave the Cottagers this summer as a free agent.
With 104 appearances in the Championship and another 76 in the Premier League, Adarabioyo comes with loads of experience, and it is no surprise that top European clubs are keen to snap him up.
Italian giants AC Milan have been on the 26-year-old’s case since last summer, while several English clubs, including Liverpool and West Ham, are also interested.
According to Bein Sports, Newcastle are also interested, and the Magpies have reportedly placed the former Manchester City ace on their radar ahead of a busy summer.
Apart from joining a new club, the end of the season could also see Adarabioyo earn a first call-up to the Nigerian national team.
Adarabioyo played for England at the youth level, but he is yet to be called up for the Three Lions.
He is set to miss out again on England’s squad to the European Championships later this year.
That could help Adarabioyo decide to play for Nigeria, the birthplace of his parents.
Adarabioyo could be in line for his first Super Eagles call-up ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa in June.
NB: Will Tosin Adarabioyo be a great addition to the Super Eagles? Leave your comments below.
Tosin will be a valuable inclusion to the Super Eagles. The team needs a world-class central defender to complement ageing Ekong and other newcomers. Tosin is a brilliant defender with much experience at the highest level. His partnership with Bassey at Fulham will be re-enacted with the Super Eagles and the fans will be delighted to watch the combo in action for Naija. The FA should use every available method to convince Tosin to play for Nigeria, after all, he is at the peak of his career and age is not on his side.
