Super Falcons and Atletico De Madrid Femenino winger, Rasheedat Ajibade, has revealed that the Nigerian team will be out for vengeance against the South African team when both sides meet tomorrow, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 24-year-old has been in decent form for her club side this season, scoring five and assisting four playing primarily from the left wing. She was in action over two legs as Nigeria sealed a 1-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
Nigeria was drawn against South Africa as the final test in their quest to seal a place at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and Ajibade is clear that there is no love lost between the two sides.
The Super Falcons lost when both sides met at the Women's African Cup of Nations in 2022, and will want to avoid a defeat in either of the two legs over the next few days.
“I think for me, it's a revenge time for us because it's a tough match against them. Right now we want to compete at the Olympics and to get there, we have to defeat some of the best teams to show that we can play amongst the best,” Ajibade said in the pre-match conference.
The first leg of the two-legged tie will be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Friday, April 5. The reverse fixture will be held at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, April 9.
The winner of the tie will be drawn into Group C at the Olympics, joining Spain, Brazil and Japan.
