English Premier League club Crystal Palace could attempt to sign Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman in the summer as they look to revamp their squad ahead of next season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Crystal Palace has enjoyed a decent campaign under the tutelage of Oliver Glasner. They currently sit 14th in the English Premier League, with 33 points from 32 games.
However, the club would be looking to do better next season. As such, they will be looking to revamp their squad next summer. But unlike the big clubs in Europe, their spending is limited, and they would have to let go of one or two star players like Eberechi Eze or Michael Olise to fund their spending.
One of the issues that Palace have struggled with is their attack. Jordan Ayew is in his sixth season at the club, and despite making 30 Premier League appearances, he may be moved on. Also, one of Jean-Philippe Mateta or Odsonne Edouard could be sold.
In terms of arrivals, according to a report by The Palace Way, one of the players on Crystal Palace’s radar is Nigeria star Lookman. The Nigerian attacker has been impressive since he joined the club. Last season, he had 13 goals and six assists. This season, he has continued in the same vein, recording eight goals and four goals in 25 Serie A appearances for Atalanta.
Lookman would come at a decent price for Crystal Palace, as he is valued at $30 million according to Transfermarkt. If the Eagles can meet Atalanta’s demands, it would be easy to convince Lookman because of his preference for Premier League football. The 26-year-old had previous stints at Leicester City, Everton, and Fulham and would surely be tempted by a Premier League return.
