Chelsea: Mikel Obi trolled for picking the “wrong club” over Man United

Chris McHardy, Mikel Obi’s podcast co-anchor took to social media to bant former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi following Chelsea’s 5-0 bashing at Arsenal on Tuesday night, Soccernet.ng reports.

Former Premier League champions Chelsea had a tough night at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night. Without their star man Cole Palmer, who has been involved in almost half of the teams goals this season, it was always going to be a tough day in the office. However, the magnitude of their loss left a bitter taste in the mouth of their fans and supporters.

After conceding early courtesy of Leandro Trossard, the Blues picked up the pace and took the game to Arsenal. However, they were wasteful, giving Arsenal to capitalize. Eventually, second-half goals from Ben White and Kai Havertz sealed the 5-0 win for the Gunners.

In the end, it was a shambolic night for the Blues, and some of the club’s legends like John Terry, Frank Lampard would be disappointed at how low the club has fallen since Abrahimovic sold the club to Todd Boehly.

After the defeat, McHardy, Mikel Obi’s partner on the ObiOne podcast shared a picture to mock him, as the retired Nigerian midfielder spent most of his career at Stamford Bridge. In fact, Mikel rejected a move to Manchester United to go to Chelsea in 2006. And many times, he has lamented about the current state of the team.

Does Mikel Regret Playing For Chelsea?

Moving to Chelsea altered Mikel’s career a lot. Jose Mourinho was the coach at the time, and he converted the Nigerian from an attacking midfielder to a defensive midfielder.

However, he won a lot of trophies including the Champions League, the Premier League, and the league Cup. Still, he believes he could have won more at Old Trafford under the tutelage of Sir Alex Fegurson.

Nonetheless, Mikel insists that he has no regrets about joining Chelsea instead of the Red devils.
