Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder, Alex Chuka Iwobi has urged his teammates to keep up the fight so they can climb up the table after their loss against Wolves, Soccernet.ng reports.
Iwobi, 27, has shut the critics of his AFCON 2023 performance up, constantly coming up with the goods for Fulham since his return from Ivory Coast.
The former Arsenal man scored his fifth league goal of the season against Wolves, but it wasn’t enough to take any points back to the Craven Cottage, and the Nigerian regarded the game as an opportunity missed to climb up the table.
“It feels like an opportunity missed, we had an opportunity to be clinical, but it wasn’t the case. They took their chances, and my goal at the end was a bit too late. We lost concentration and focus and we spoke about it after the game. We need to be concentrated for the full ninety minutes. We can’t switch off at this stage, we go again,” the Arsenal academy graduate said in an interview posted on the club’s official website.
Iwobi’s five goals in twenty league games this term has seen him produce his best-ever goalscoring season in his Premier League career, and he credited his coach for it.
“I enjoy playing under the gaffer and he gives me the confidence to keep going and play my football, so hopefully, the next goal will be on the winning side. It’s a bit of good form, and hopefully it can continue,” the former Everton man added.
Fulham will face Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham Hotspur at the Craven Cottage in seven days as both teams look to take maximum points as the season winds down to its business end.
