Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has returned to light training on the pitch, signalling his imminent return to action for Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface joined Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian club Royale Union SG last summer, and he has been a revelation at the club. The 23-year-old forward registered ten goals and seven assists in 16 games in the first half of the season.
Unfortunately, Boniface sustained an injury at the turn of the year after he was invited to the national team. Due to the injury, Boniface had to undergo surgery, and that has kept him out of action.
Initially, Boniface was billed to return by April, but the Nigerian hitman appears to be healing fast. In a new post on the Bayer Leverkusen man’s social media account, he shared pictures of himself on the pitch doing light training.

Boniface’s post means that he is drawing closer to making his return to action. The striker will likely return to action in the next two weeks.
Boniface’s return will give Bayer Leverkusen a big boost in their attack, as Xabi Alonso apparently does not trust Patrik Schick and Borja Iglesias.
Moreover, Bayer Leverkusen need all the firepower they can get so as to finish the season on a strong note. They currently sit ten points clear of Bayern Munich and the top of the Bundesliga with ten games left.
Also, they remain the only club in Europe’s top five leagues yet to lose a game this season.
