Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella scored the first goal for Bayer Leverkusen in their 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga, Soccernet.ng reports.
Tella has slowly found a way into Bayer Leverkusen’s first team after playing a peripheral role in the first half of the season. His consistency earned him a place in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
Once again, he made Bayer Leverkusen’s first eleven in their game against Wolfsburg at BayArena. Historically, the tie has always been a tough one for Bayer Leverkusen, but with their form this season, they were favourites to pick all three points from the game.
Bayer Leverkusen dominated the first half, bossed the possession, and created the better chances, but they failed to score. However, they got an advantage after Moritz Jenz got sent off following a second bookable offence in the 28th minute.
In the 37th minute, Tella got on the scoresheet for Bayer Leverkusen after he reacted quickest to a cross from Alejandro Grimaldo and headed home from close range.

Bayer Leverkusen took their lead into the break, and in the second half, they continued to dominate. Tella had a good performance in his 76 minutes of action. He also had a 93% pass accuracy and 39 touches.
Florian Wirtz scored the second goal for Bayer Leverkusen in the 86th minute, and that was enough to seal the victory for Die Werkself. They have a ten-point gap between themselves and Bayern Munich, with nine games left till the end of the season.
