Super Eagles and Empoli defender, Tyronne Ebuehi, faces a season-ending setback due to partial damage to his anterior cruciate ligament, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles are gearing up to renew their historic rivalry with the Black Stars of Ghana and face Mali on March 22nd and 26th in Marrakech, Morocco.
However, Ebuehi’s injury adds to the list of absentees for the 26-man squad, including Gabriel Osho, Taiwo Awoniyi, and the doubtful Victor Osimhen.
Empoli confirmed Ebuehi’s injury, with the club struggling to avoid relegation in the ongoing Serie A season with less than nine games to go.
In an official statement, Empoli Football Club announced, “Empoli Football Club announces that the instrumental investigations to which the footballer Tyronne Ebuehi, who came out during Friday’s match with Bologna, was subjected, have highlighted the partial injury of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee.
“The footballer, after being subjected to a first specialist evaluation to establish the recovery path, began the appropriate treatments with the blue health staff.”
This blow not only impacts the Super Eagles but also Empoli, who will miss Ebuehi’s contributions in their international friendly clash and the remaining matches of the club season.
