The Ghana Football Association is set to announce the reappointment of Borussia Dortmund's talent Coach, Otto Addo, as the head coach of the Ghanaian football team, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Black stars of Ghana have been without a coach since their group-stage exit from the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast.
Chris Hughton was in charge of the team at the AFCON, but they failed to record a single win, drawing against Egypt and Mozambique before losing to eventual semi-finalists, Cape Verde.
According to a report from Brown GH, the Ghana Football Association has handed Addo a long-term contract. Oddo was formerly an assistant coach for Borussia Dortmund under the interim reign of Edin Terzic.
Following the dismissal of Marco Rose as the head coach at the Signal Iduna Park, Terzic became the head coach and Oddo resumed his role as a talent coach.
He was in charge of the Ghanaian football team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as they lost to Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and Edinson Cavani's Uruguay, but defeated South Korea 3-2.
Due to the group stage exit of the Black Stars, he returned to his role in Dortmund but is set to be reinstated by the Ghana FA since the head coach role is vacant, with the announcement set to be made on Friday, March 15, 2024.
In his first stint as Black Stars coach, Addo was in charge of 12 games and recorded four wins, four draws and four defeats.
The 48-year-old will be in charge of the Four-time AFCON winners during the March International Break as they take on Uganda and Nigeria in Morocco.
