Nigeria’s Under-20 female team, the Super Falconets, claimed an important 2-0 victory over Morocco in their opening fixture of the 2023 African Games, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria started the football competition of the 2023 African Games on a bad note, as the male team succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Uganda on Thursday.
However, the female team gave the fans something to cheer about. Coach Christopher Dan named a strong starting XI against Morocco, who have shown significant growth in female football in recent years.

The Super Falconets dominated from the start, and in the 19th minute, they scored the opener through Chioma Olise. Then, in the 40th minute, the Super Falconets doubled their lead courtesy of Adoo Yina.
The Super Falconets’ first-half efforts was just enough, as they saw out their 2-0 lead to seal the victory at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana.
Nigeria’s win put them in a very good position in the competition. There are only three teams in each group, and their next game is against Senegal on Monday, March 11.
The Super Falconets just need a draw to qualify for the next round, and with their quality and what they showed in their opening fixture against Morocco, they look good enough to get a win.
