Waldrum’s Super Falcons receive boost as Cameroon star player withdraws from Olympic qualifiers clash

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are slated to tackle Cameroon in Douala on 23 and 26 of February for their 2024 Olympic qualifiers

Cameroon’s star player, Nchout Ajara Njoya, has withdrawn from the 2024 Olympic qualification doubleheader against Nigeria's Super Falcons, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Cameroon Football Federation announced Njoya's injury as vice-captain of the Indomitable Lionesses shortly after media reports surfaced.

Still recovering from a lingering injury, Njoya will miss the crucial matches against Nigeria in the 3rd elimination round of the women's football tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Cameroon and Nigeria are set to clash in the qualifying round on February 23 and 26, with the winner advancing to the final round of qualifiers.

Njoya alerted team medics about her injury on Tuesday, indicating her unavailability for the upcoming matches, however, the Cameroonian football federation has made the official announcement on the current situation.

“Due to injury, the vice-captain of the indomitable Lioness, Nchout Njoya Ajara, is withdrawn for the double confrontation between Cameroon and Nigeria counting for the 3rd round of the elimination of the “Paris” Olympic games.

“To replace her, the coach called on striker, Kameni Flora (FC Ebolowa) who is expected in the den in the next hours.“ reads the statement.
